Me in Zhouzhuang, Kunshan

on

When you are in Shanghai, and would like to see something cultural with the unique water lanes, you should opt for Zhouzhuang. Yes, for me Zhouzhuang is definitely an ultimate answer for a leisurely one-day trip from Shanghai. You can enjoy one of the most beautiful water lanes in China, boats, ancient architecture, stone bridges, traditional crafts and more here. I went there with the Dover gang in the beginning of April 2010.  Zhouzhuang , dubbed as “Venice of The Orient” is located in Kunshan city which is 30 km southeast of Suzhou and 60 km southwest of Shanghai. The well-preserved Zhouzhuang is one of the most famous water town’s destinations in China with the interesting history of more than 900 years. Most of the residences in Zhouzhuang were built in Ming (1368-1644) or Qing Dynasties (1644-1911). It is a truly little gem in the eastern China route. You can see what I like about Zhouzhuang now. Special thanks to our lovely hosts who are now moving to Memphis!  After visiting Zhouzhuang, we found the nice scenery for you on the way back. Enjoy!
